Indonesian Trade Promotion Center: Buying Mission & Buyer's Appreciation

This paper was written during my internship at Indonesian Trade Promotion Center in a brochure format.

Buying Mission

Definition

Buying mission is a promotion form which facilitate future investors/buyers who visit Indonesia in order to conduct transaction or investment that will increase Indonesia's export value. In 2014, Buying Mission targeted 10 countries with 100 buyers. There are five traditional countries and five non traditional with transaction target of $120 million USD.


Future Buyer Qualifications

- Foreign importer/distributor/wholesaler/retailer/trading company;

- Foreign company mentioned should have conducted intensive communication with Indonesian exporter and/or Indonesian Representatives/Trade Attaché/ITPC/KDEI Taipei therefore ready to sign MoU, contract/purchasing order;

- Buyers who attend are decision makers that will determine the business contract; Future facilitated buyers should be approved by Indonesia Representatives/Trade Attaché/ITPC/KDEI Taipei.


Future Buyer Criteria

- Buyer with recommendation from Indonesia Representatives/Trade Attaché/ITPC/KDEI Taipei;

- Able to fulfill minimum requirement order and estimated volume;

- Listed as importer in commerce chamber, association, or business entity in origin country.

Exporters Qualifications

- Company has conducted export;

- Company must have complete documents and export procedures namely Press Publication Business License (SIUPP), Tax Identification Number (NPWP), Corporate Registry (TDP), Single Identity Number (NIK), and Declaration of Exportations of Goods (PEB);

- Company should provide production capacity as requested by buyer;

- Company has to have long-term export plan;

- Company focuses on 10 main product and 10 prospective product, and opens to other products as well;

- A waiver that the company is currently not involved in legal issues.

Facilities Provided by DGNED for Buyers

- Round-trip airplane fare reimbursement, including travel insurance, with a maximum of $3,000 USD for 1 (one) buyer from 1 (one) company with travel route: origin country - Indonesia (Jakarta/Province) - origin country;

- Tickets for maximum 3 (three) provinces to visit companies/production centers;

- Four-star hotel accommodation for maximum 5 days and 4 nights;

- Accommodation for local transportations;

- Three meals during the activities;

- Translator for non english speaking buyer;

- Assistant from DGNED team during visits to provinces;

- Travel and accommodation expenses for the assistant from Indonesia Representatives outside the country/Trade Attaché/ITPC/KDEI Taipei will be paid by Indonesia Representatives/Trade Attaché/ITPC/KDEI Taipei.

Buyer’s Appreciation

Definition

Buyer's Appreciation is a monitoring program and partnership implementation that develops national exports by giving rewards for buyers who have good networks with Indonesian exporters proven by lists of import transactions with stakeholders. Judges for Buyer's Appreciation are stakeholders with related professional factors (governments, practitioners, economists, academics, journalists, KADIN, associations, etc.). Proposed judges names are delivered to DGNED for approval from up to minister (if needed).

Buyer Qualifications

Qualified buyers are foreign importer/distributor/wholesaler/retailer/trading companies:

- The company should be selected according the criteria (has an increasing trend related to import value performance in the last 3 (three) years and is included in the product classification and/or Indonesia export market) and chosen by the implementation team, Indonesia Representatives/Trade Attaché/ITPC/KDEI Taipei, and judges, to be sent to Indonesia in order to participate in Buyer's Appreciation event.

- Buyer who wins the appreciation is the buyer with the biggest contribution in increasing Indonesia's export, attached with a copy of the buyer's export contract with Indonesia;

- The company must be legally listed by the origin country;

- Company categorized as large companies and medium-sized company;

- During registration, company can provide its import realization overview and projection from Indonesia for the next 3 years.

- Facilitated buyer should be verified by Indonesia Representatives/Trade Attaché/ITPC/KDEI Taipei.

Facilities Given to Buyers
